General Mandible is the main villain in the 1998 computer-animated film, "Antz." He was voiced by Gene Hackman. He is the leader of the ant army and is similiar in some ways to Hopper from "A Bug's Life" because the movie itself is similar to that film.Captain Mandible was the leader of the army ants but was always a war-hungry insect with little regard for the colony as a whole: as was evident when he ultimately betrayed it and attempted to flood the colony to kill all the ants inside it, including the queen - ultimately the would-be-dictator had his plans ruined when he engaged in a confrontation with the heroes of the story, resulting in him falling and landing on a upright root which impales him. He wanted to marry Princess Bala, making her his queen consort as well as the mother of thousands of larval children, but she calls off the wedding and rejects him after becoming suspicious of his plans.
